As long as it's not lead, I should be able to manage. The problem with that is that, unless you soak it in mana for a long time- like, on the order of years- metal is generally an incredibly poor conductor for magic. There are specific types of metal that that's not true for, but those are too rare and precious to make a staff from anyway.
Except for my grandpa, but I've never been able to figure out the theory behind his spellblade bullshit anyway. A metal sword should not be able to do that.
I have no idea. If I ever figured it out, I never remembered it. I never knew if he figured it out before he got that class, or changing classes just gave him that ability, I think... It's annoying, because I'm trying to recreate his ability here, since I was able to do it in someone else's calibration, but I feel like I'm missing something important for it.
The World Tree is in Alfheim- it's where my fairy form comes from. At the center of the world is an enormous tree, reaching up into the sky- so tall that it takes more than ten minutes just to reach the lowest branches, and that's too high for even the strongest fairy to fly. A lot of legends in that world revolve around the tree.
Haha, probably. I'm not sure if even Asuna would know about that- her weapon of choice is a rapier, and a wand for casting. I don't think I've ever seen her use a staff, and no one else in my party uses them, either.
Mm... I guess you could call her that, yeah. When we all entered ALO she decided she wanted to try the healer class, and most of us stuck with DPS or tank. We don't really use much magic.
I know it's reckless, but the world we'd lived in before had no magic at all. We did nothing but train and fight for years using nothing but weapons and the skills we learned there. Old habits die hard, and- spells just didn't come naturally to us. Nobody wanted to make the switch.
I guess I get it, but... Hearing about all these people in other worlds going into these dangerous situations without a dedicated healer just makes my skin crawl.
No, no, don't misunderstand, Asuna is a dedicated healer! She only joins the fight when we're in a pinch and really need her to. We're not that reckless.
Offensive, negative status, and debuff magic are based on intelligence as the primary stat for the magic power, but healing, positive status, and buff magic rely on spirit, which... isn't me.

[Mages are such mysterious creatures.
BUT ALSO-]
Spellblade? He can cast magic with his sword?
no subject
Yeah. He can cast spells through the sword and deal magic and elemental damage with his physical attacks.
no subject
But that sounds awesome! I wonder how it works.

If you were to get a staff made from the wood of a tree like that... That's the kind of weapon that becomes a legend in its own right.
[and i want one so bad]

[It's basically the worst balanced party ever.]

[
just wait till he's canon-updated]Do you need a staff specifically to cast magic, or is it just for stat boosts?
no subject
If I don't have a staff, I can sort of get by on my offensive magic, but... My healing magic heals for like twenty per cast. Obviously, not good.
no subject
What can it do with the staff, then?

[Their skill system is so different, he doesn't want to assume, sob.]

[So, bad.]

Haha, noted. Not a fan of the class?
