Nightingale, I need to ask you something. Academically.

Do you know of a way for someone to break a spiritual contract by force?

I'll need to know specifics. What kind of contract? What does it do, and how? If it's a simple binding agreement to force certain actions out of you, there are ways, but it's not pleasant and it's usually easier to just do them. Something more like a summoner's pact would take a lot more power, and though I can think of some ways to do it in theory, it's way beyond my skill in practice. Honestly, the easiest way to do it is simply violate the terms of the contract, if that's an option.

What if you're not entirely clear on all the terms of the contract? Is there some sort of spell a person could use?

What kind of contract are you trying to break? You shouldn't agree to a contract if you don't know all the terms. That sort of shit is how people lose their souls.

I think you'll find those two things related. I'm still a low-level mage. Even if I know how, I may just not have the power myself to do it. He's got the biggest MP pool I know of here to draw from. And the fact that you are really, really desperate to hide this from your husband sounds familiar enough that I'm not willing to agree until I know more.

I want to see if it's possible to release a seraphim from their sublord pact. Unfortunately, the pacts are made through Lailah, my Prime Lord, but she's not here. As far as I know she's the only one who can break that contract, but I know almost next to nothing about how the Shepard contract works. She's supposed to guide me through that.

[There's a very long pause before her reply comes in, and then it's just:]

A divorce? No. A sublord pact isn't like marriage. Lailah and I have multiple sublords, after all.

I have a teammate who once explained polygamy to me in between attempts to concuss me. I'm not sure how polygamous marriage works, but this sounds close. Are you having relationship trouble or something?

I've never tried with living things, though, mostly it's just to repair mana pathways in structures. But I want to know why I would be doing this.

In the case that'd be necessary...I guess it would have to happen if I ever started to generate malevolence. Back home if that happened Lailah could just sever the contracts, but I've been here so long...I want to make sure there's something that can save them in case I'm not fit to be their vessel anymore.
