Signeu: High school romance problems

This memory is of working together in a class with Yura and Araj. It’s some kind of science project- Araj has taken the lead, her eyes (or, the one eye Aiya can see through her hair) shining as she builds. Aiya can’t help but smile as she watches the elf build, so excited to be working with technology. The normally shy and reserved Araj, excited and guiding the others through their task was a rare sight.

Yura throws her hands up and flops over on the desk, declaring that she’s finished, it’s too hard. She rolls around for a moment, then ends up draping on Aiya, whose heart nearly leaps out of her chest. Yura cuddles up against Aiya, and with her best pleading voice, asks Aiya to pleeeeeaaaaase help, she can’t do it alone, and Aiya is ~so smart~... Aiya doesn’t fall for it at all, knowing Yura just doesn’t want to do it, but she can’t help but laugh a little, and, well… Try to not think about how close Yura is to her.

She admits that she can’t, she’s having trouble herself with the small fiddly parts, which gets Araj’s attention. The elf girl scoots closer as well, and places her hands over Aiya’s- whose heart nearly explodes again, as she tries to repress an intense blush and fails- and walks her through it like that. Between both of the girls on her, Aiya is reduced to a stammering mess, but somehow, it seems like neither of the others notice. She takes a few deep breaths to calm herself. There’s no reason to be so alarmed, Yura’s always like that, and Araj is just helping with their work- They’re being friendly, because they’re friends.

Obviously just friends, Aiya rationalizes to herself. If she has such intense feelings towards two people, it obviously can’t be a romantic thing- Romance is what you feel at one other person, right? So she fully believes that. This is clearly just normal friendship.

They finish their project eventually- A small device with a few buttons on it and a glass lens on top. Araj presses one of the buttons, and a holographic screen appears in front of the lens, displaying a TV news channel, talking about some far-off monster problem on another continent. The device isn’t very good quality- The screen flickers quite a bit- but they managed to build it themselves anyway. The three are so relieved by their success, they all practically collapse into a giggling pile before they have to turn it in.
