Sigpos: Full Moons Night
The memory takes place not long after Aiya's 17th birthday.
As Aiya walks down the streets of central Delwight after school, the streets are bustling with activity. Stores are putting up sales, posters and ads line the walls, and everything is repeating the same words: Full Moons Night.
The world's two moons, Betyl and Sessho, have vastly different spins. They're both only full at the same time about once every ten years or so, and when they do, it's considered one of the most romantic moments ever. Of course, Aiya herself doesn't have any real plans, but... It does fall on a weekend this year, so maybe...
On a whim, she pulls out her phone and writes a text.
To: Yura
Subj: Moons
You have any plans for the big night?
Aiya starts to put her phone away, but to her surprise, she gets a reply before she can.
From: Yura
Subj: Re: Moons
i dont (; ̄д ̄)
ur probly gonna spend it studying rite?
Aiya has to consider a moment, before hitting reply.
It's not for another couple of days. I can do all my homework in advance.
If you don't have plans, want to find a place to watch the moons together?
At this, she had to pause before hitting send. She looked at the text, feeling her heart starting to pound harder. This... Didn't it read like she was asking her on a date? She shakes her head, starting to psych herself out of it. Surely Yura would have better things to do, and anyway- Clonk.
Aiya stumbled back and rubbed her head, looking at the pole she had just walked facefirst into. Okay, she needs to remember to watch where she's going- She looks around and sees people staring at her, too. Damn it all. She blushes in embarrassment and walks much faster.
She doesn't get too far before her phone buzzes again, surprising her. She hadn't sent the text, after all. Yet when she looks at the screen, she sees a reply. With a jolt through her gut, she realizes that with her collision with the pole, she sent the message, and... Oh, shit. She freezes in place, staring at the reply notification. Does she dare open it? Deep beraths, Aiya... It would be okay. She nods to herself. If Yura thought it was weird, she'd clarify that she just meant as friends. Nothing romantic, just friendship, and-
rly??? (((o(*゚▽゚*)o)))
i actually wanted to ask you the same thing
i found a rly rly good spot for it σ(≧ε≦o)
ill see you there? ・:*+.\(( °ω° ))/.:+
The reply was like a shock to the gut. Aiya's heart pounds again, and she can't quite figure out what she's feeling, but... Could this mean she... No, that is impossible, right...?
The memory jumps to a couple of days later, just after sunset. Aiya and Yura are alone on a hilltop, a picnic blanket spread under them. Empty boxes of festival food are piled neatly next to them, forgotten already with the excitement and apprehension. There are no clouds in the sky, offering a truly breathtaking view of the heavens. The star field is absurdly bright, with nebulae and the like forming colored streaks through the sky, and in the center, rising together over the horizon, are the pair of full moons. It is, without a doubt, the most beautiful thing she's ever seen.
Well... Mostly. She glances out of the corner of her eye at Yura, her white hair reflecting the moonlight. She can't help but stare a little, thinking her friend is just as beautiful like this. Yura notices and turns to face her with a curious look, and she immediately looks away, flushing.
Hm, what is it? Yura asks lightly, poking at Aiya's cheek.
It- It's nothing, Aiya replies, cursing herself inwardly at her stammer. She could feel her face grow hotter, as she got embarrassed and annoyed at herself. She shouldn't make things awkward...
Hm, it's nothing, but you won't look at me? Yura asks, pouting lightly. Aiya tries to stammer out an excuse, but finds herself looking up into Yura's eyes anyway, the bright gold practically gleaming... What should she do? As if on instinct, she without thinking leans in towards Yura, but stops herself. What is she even doing? Was she just about to kiss Yura? She can't do that- Yura would never want to, and it would be horrible of her to try to selfishly kiss her, because that would be awkward for Yura to try to refuse too, and if she went with it-
Her thoughts are interrupted when Yura leans in herself and kisses her.
At this point, her mind freezes up. Unable to really think and moving entirely on instinct, she kissed back, gingerly putting her arms around Yura. At some point, Aiya loses her balance and falls onto her back, and Yura comes with her, the two of them continuing to kiss, deeply and passionately, feeling Yura's weight on top of her as they go... The back of her mind is screaming objections at this- Her parents will be livid, what about how she feels about Araj, there's no way it's romantic and it has to be just a physical thing, and even if it were, she knows she's not good enough for Yura... Yura deserves someone way better than her. She knows she isn't good enough, but... Just for tonight, maybe it would be okay?
She knows it's stupid of her, and pointless, yet she ends up praying silently to the moons above her anyway, to let her forget everything else for just this one night, as she runs her hands through Yura's hair and kisses her with all the passion and love she can muster.

okay did we date. was i full of shit before. WHY DIDN'T I THINK WE WERE TOGETHER LATER IF WE WERE DOING THIS. was i really that fucking bad with the confidence.
and also it's going to make her very lonely :( she misses yura a lot and with all of Tak's turnover she's going to be very likely to seek out people she thinks are steady presences and try to spend more time with them.
As a note the memory takes place at the start of spring so it's still pretty cold the whole way through.
